Rachel DeBender, DVM
Dr. DeBender grew up west of Fort Worth. In college she took both business and science classes as an undergraduate. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis in 1999. After graduation, she took a job in banking in Dallas and moved to Colorado for a year of more banking. A few years later, she left the corporate world to pursue her doctorate in veterinary medicine. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2007. She accepted an intership in New York City with the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital and began practicing in Boston until she accepted a position at Hillside in 2010.
Dr. DeBender chose Hillside because of its favorable reputation, talented and compassionate doctors, and diverse staff. She enjoys working in a field where she can be helpful and challenged at the same time.
Professionally, she hopes to expand her skills in dentistry and internal medicine. In her leisure time, Dr. DeBender reads, watches movies and is a devoted Cowboys’ fan. She enjoys spending time outside and around the lake, camping, and riding jet skis.
Dr. DeBender has a cat Mongo and a Shih Tzu named Charlotte, who can wear a bandana to the nines and charm even the swankiest of furry four-footers.
