Regular dental cleanings set a higher standard and quality of care for dental health in that they are more proactive in identifying and treating disease in the mouth as well as they have more control on pain and infection.  Low cost dentals are not to the same elevated standard, but do offer an option for treating dental disease in a more cost-efficient manner.

VS
Low Cost Dental

Pre-anesthetic blood work (optional, additonal $85.00)

Gas anesthesia

Dental cleaning, scale, polish

The main differences between a low cost dental and a regular dental are that the regular dentals include:

1. Pre-anesthetic blood work.

  • This is recommended to ensure that there are no underlying issues that your pet may have to adjust the type of anesthesia needed or to indicate that anesthesia may not be safe for your pet.

 2. IV catheter and fluids.

  • IV fluids prevent dehydration and help to ensure that your pet’s blood pressure remains high enough to provide sufficient blood supply to vital organs since anesthesia may lower his/her natural blood pressure.

 3. Full mouth dental radiographs.

  • Radiographs help show disease that lies underneath the gums and cannot be seen visually.  They help identify current and potential future problems as well as to make sure that no root fragments are left during tooth extractions.

 4. Nerve blocks.

  • Nerve blocks help reduce pain both during the extraction as well as after the extraction (not needed for all extractions).

 5. Gingival flaps.

  • A gingival flap is where the gum is pulled away from the bone to help expose long root making extractions quicker and less likely to break the root.  They also allow the gum to be closed after the extraction making infection less likely and aiding in comfort post extraction (not needed for all extractions).

Our low cost dentals are $165.
